Home, a Chalet in Truckee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We moved in about a week after arriving in Tahoe. \u00a0Finding good housing was not an easy task, but after looking at many good options we found one that was warm, comfortable, fully furnished and would not break the bank. \u00a0We did not want to spend all of our money on rent, as there is still much gear to buy. \u00a0 1200$ a month with all utilities included was a sound deal. \u00a0We ordered a cord of almond firewood to go along with the cord the landlord provided, as we heat primarily with wood on the cold nights, with electric keeping the base temp up and heating the bedrooms. \u00a0A cord of hardwood cost $425, which is about double east coast prices.<\/p>\n<p>The kitchen came equipped with many of the essentials, including a complete calphalon cookware set, cups, plates, and even a brand new toaster. \u00a0Lots of little details that were already in place at the house really saved us a lot of time and money from having to purchase them ourselves.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/thirtythree.org\/projects\/photojournal\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2013\/11\/a-frame-livingroom.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-497\" style=\"text-align: left;\">After moving in we decided to stock the house up good. \u00a0Focusing on food and disposable items, we headed to Reno about 35 minutes away and picked up a Costco card. \u00a0We dropped 450$ at Costco and another 200$ at Trader Joes. \u00a0Much of what we bought should last the entire winter and other things an entire year. \u00a0Having a fully stocked freezer and cupboards, we are able to spend a lot less at the more expensive stores local to us, focusing on produce and small items here and there as
