10 Ways to Live a Balanced Day
1. Allow yourself 15 minutes of morning quiet time. Whether it be opening up your bible, daily devotional, or meditation, spend time with God to help you gain strength, patience and thankfulness for the day ahead.
2. Let one of your daily goals be to bring joy to someone’s life. Whether it be a loved one or a stranger, extend a compliment or surprise them with something they enjoy. If we all did this, I think each day would be a little brighter for both sides.
3.Check your Facebook and Email only a few times a day for 15 min intervals. It amazes me how much time I can sometimes devote to this usually meaningless task! Do you ever find yourself just scrolling through updates every few minutes?! Be conscious of how much time you’re spending on FB and start cutting back. It can be poison to our thoughts.
4.Go for a solo walk, 30-60mins. I find this is a great way to refocus my thoughts and goals or just to get out into nature, away from distractions. Mix up the paths you take. You will enliven your senses if you do so.
5.Eat Well, swap those sugary, salty snacks for an amazing salad! Give your body what it needs and it will reward you.
6.Tell someone you Love them. Give them a call, Skype them, or if you are lucky to have them in your daily presence, be sure to let them know!
7. Play your favorite station on Pandora. It’s amazing how music can change your mood. Some of my favorite stations: 90’s R&B, Mumford and Sons, and Hillsong United.
8. Treat yourself to something. This can be watching an episode of your favorite show on Netflix or Hulu, taking a bath, purchasing a new favorite song on iTunes that you can jam out to on the way to work; buying a Groupon for a spa treatment, or try making one of these:
Chocolate Banana Smoothie
1 frozen banana
1 cup almond or soy milk or coconut milk
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
Put all ingredients in a blender and voila! A delicious, guilt free treat!
9. Forgive yourself for not getting all of your “To Do’s” done; there is always tomorrow.
10. Give thanks out loud or write it down in a journal. Remaining grateful for not only the good things, but also the struggles we face in our lives is one of the most important ways we can stay balanced and happy. 🙂
